Learn how to apply for the Wisconsin Association of Housing Authorities Scholarship
To: WAHA Members
From: Robyn Hallet, Chairman, WAHA Scholarship Committee
Subject: Steve Falek Scholarship Application
Date: July 13, 2016
In an effort to spread the word to as many potential applicants as possible, the WAHA Steve Falek Scholarship is made available throughout most of the year. The 2017 Scholarship application material is now ready – please take this opportunity to inform your residents and clients who are or will be going to school!
The scholarships will be awarded at the SPRING WAHA Conference. Please begin getting the word out immediately: Letters, phone calls, an article in a newsletter, hanging a poster, or sharing a flyer are possible options. We’ve created a poster or flyer you can use – please print them from the WAHA website, or modify them to make them your own! I even have an article you can put in your newsletter or a letter you can send – email me and I can forward them to you.
WAHA will offer four scholarships:
Two – $1,000 scholarships for full-time students (12 credits or more per semester)
Two – $500 scholarships for part-time students (6 or more credits per semester)
Applicants should submit their applications to their local Housing Authority by January 9, 2017.
Housing Authorities are asked to review each application for completeness and follow up with applicants if any required documentation is missing. Each Housing Authority then selects the one most deserving full time AND part time applications and forwards them to your District Representative by January 20, 2017.
Each District should select the most deserving applicants (one full time and one part time) and forward their complete application packet to me at Robynha@greenbaywi.gov by February 6, 2017.
The scholarship committee will choose the winners and notify the respective Housing Authorities by February 27, 2017.
The Housing Authorities with winning applicants should notify the winners immediately so they have enough time to determine if they can attend the award ceremony at the Spring Conference. WAHA will pay for winners and their families to attend the Conference.
Winners should notify their Housing Authorities, who in turn should notify me, if they will attend the awards ceremony by March 17, 2017.
The awards will be publicly announced at the awards ceremony at the Spring Conference on April 18 or 19, 2017.
The scholarship application material is posted on the WAHA website. Please direct your residents/clients to www.wahaonline.org or print the materials for them. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Robynha@greenbaywi.gov, or 920-448-3414. Thank You!!
